Atlantbh Scholarship program is entering its sixth year. During this school year, we will support ten ambitious young people in fulfilling their goals. Every year, Atlantbh rewards monthly financial support for students in two categories: students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in academic and non-academic activities and students who come from low-income households.  Beside the financial support, we believe spending time teaching them new skills is equally beneficial. Atlantbh Engineers and Talent team come together with them several times a year, to hold specially crafted workshops. Scholarship holders get to learn new soft skills, hear more advice and details on different IT career paths, ask questions, and get insight into their future careers. Atlanters did some time-traveling, taking a leap back to the historical crossroads of Medieval Bosnia. At least figuratively - in reality, over a hundred of us spent three days together on our annual team building - Atlantbh Medieval Tales, enjoying good company and some competitive games. How awesome is that? Atlantbh Medieval Games Atlanters, divided into epic teams, dove into a quest for eternal glory, facing five games testing speed, precision, memory, and teamwork. They had to walk through the Medieval Bosnian Cities, throw a cannonball, conquer Jajce, decipher Bosancica, and, in the end, try out their archery skills.   Some games asked for strength and logic skills, while others required a brave heart and team effort. But they all mirrored Atlantbh culture of unity, ambition and hard work. Atlanters had limited time to decide how to divide the roles. Who is good at time management at work? Is that person a good leader? What everyday skills we see at work could be useful for each game? And we can tell you - with the way the games were played, we know each other pretty well. Atlantbh Medieval Quiz The Atlantbh Medieval Tales Quiz unfolded as the sun set, replacing swords with wit. Atlanters enjoy a good Pub Quiz at our office, so it was a must-have at our team building. All around our medieval village, they could read fun and insightful facts about the medieval history of our country. It was really fun seeing who paid the most attention, and who found all the info tables!  Building on to our culture However, the true magic happens when the entire company immerses itself in the experience – that's when our shared values and culture truly shine! Our curiosity, sense of responsibility, teamwork, and passion for good fun and games were on display during our recent adventure. While we take pride in our culture in our day-to-day lives, there's something extraordinary about witnessing a multitude of Atlanters in one place, embodying the core Atlantbh values throughout the journey. It became evident that, despite our differences, we share common threads: a commitment to responsibility, a knack for collaborative work, and a love for enjoying good times together!

We are thrilled to announce that the Atlantbh Scholarship program is now open for applications for the sixth year in a row! We're on a mission to help talented students studying IT-related subjects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the past, students who received our scholarships have achieved great things; some have even become part of the Atlantbh team. We're confident that this year's recipients will follow in their footsteps and do amazing things too. Scholarships offered Ten scholarships will be offered to first and second-year university students enrolled in IT-related study programs. There are two scholarship categories: Category 1: Students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in academic and non-academic activities. Category 2: Students coming from low-income households. Scholarships will be provided over a 10-month period, valued at a total of 2000 BAM for Category 1 and 3500 BAM for Category 2. Eligibility criteria Academic achievement during studies; Membership in student organizations and other relevant extracurricular activities; Participation in relevant student competitions (in IT-related fields), on both the domestic and international levels; List of projects in which the student participated (not related to course work such as assignments and similar); Social status (only for Category 2). Embarking on your first job journey can be a mix of excitement and nerves. Transitioning from the University to the professional world can be a shaping moment in your future career. At Atlantbh, we understand these feelings all too well. That's why our internship program isn't just a learning experience - it's a transformative stepping stone towards your career. We asked five of our ex-interns, now Atlanters, what lessons they took from Internship to the real (work) world.  Working on a (real) project Internship projects at Atlantbh are based on the projects our engineers work on daily - without the added stress of meeting client deadlines. That makes working with other interns fun and dynamic, but also lets you in on how it is to work in a team. Amar was our Product Manager intern, and he says this, together with mentorship, were the most helpful experiences for starting his career. His mentor taught him the whens, hows and whys in the decision-making during the development of the new feature. After every month of the Atlantbh Internship, together with other Interns, he had a feedback session, where he got advice on what to improve in the next month.  Being a part of a productive team Dženeta found her Atlantbh internship valuable because she learned how to work effectively in a team. The difference between her studies and the Internship is that interns at Atlantbh collaborate on their projects. Each team member has a specific role in building complex applications. This experience taught her the importance of teamwork and working in a productive, Scrum-based environment. Never forget the edge case Before she became a Junior Software Engineer at Atlantbh, Nađa’s biggest lesson as an intern was that having functional code is not enough. Always think about how to make it as simple as possible, format it, and never forget the edge cases. She worked hard to implement these steps in her work process. Her biggest help was her mentor - who showed her how to achieve these goals. Nađa says that her University projects would have been much easier if she knew more about GitHub branches then.  What is important (and what is not) Ferid faced a challenge as a Data Analytics Intern: separating important data from unimportant data after conducting analyses. Learning to view data results professionally was an eye-opener for him. This skill continues to benefit him as he works as a Data Analyst today. That one thing that stands out During the Internship, you'll gain knowledge and experience in various areas. However, there's often one skill that stands out because you use it every day when you start your career. For Jasmina, a UI/UX designer, that standout skill was her research on designing tables. Her knowledge of design practices and how to plan and create concepts in the design system remains crucial in her real projects at Atlantbh today. Adis Halilović is a DevOps engineer at Atlantbh, but behind the kickstarting of his career lies an exciting story. When he applied for the Atlantbh Internship, he didn't know what the DevOps position entailed. Lejla from our Talent team says that it is often the case that young people who apply for an internship are not sure what exactly they want to do. This is why the Talent team, as well as the engineers involved in the selection process, try to recognize each individual's potential and affinities and help them in that decision. Adis described the DevOps position as a way of life. He says that it is the culture and way of developing the application so that all the steps of developing the application go smoothly. The goal of DevOps culture is the unification of all those participating in that development cycle, so that the final product is as efficient as possible. All these processes are a part of the development cycle, for which the DevOps engineer is directly responsible. His DevOps story came spontaneously. He started using Linux in high school and started learning various programming languages. Adis tried his hand at other IT positions, but he didn't quite find himself in any of them. After that, he devoted himself to Linux, especially its configuration. He says he used to waste a lot of time writing automation scripts, which paid off in the long run. Adis decided to apply for the Atlantbh internship, and what is very interesting is that DevOps was his second choice. At that moment, Adis did not know what a DevOps position was, but the word Linux caught his attention. Although it was not his first choice, the Atlantbh team recognized that his skills and tendencies fit the role. "When I got to the technical interview, I talked about Linux for over an hour with Atlantbh Lead DevOps. It was a great feeling because even though there were questions I didn't know the answer to, I got the chance to talk to someone about Linux on a higher level," says Adis. After he got accepted to the Atlantbh internship, Adis learned a lot of skills needed for this job, which helped him get a job as a DevOps engineer at Atlantbh. "I must also mention that recently my internship mentor told me that as soon as he saw my CV and GitHub, he immediately knew what I wanted to do, only I didn't know it existed. I want my story to motivate future Atlantbh Interns to sign up for a new cycle of practice and try this. This year, we finally got a glimpse of the “old normal”. So, we fully embraced it and rolled up our sleeves - and here is what we were up to.  New opportunities Throughout 2022 our engineers got significant new opportunities to grow their careers, use new technologies and further develop their tech skills. Setting standards in QA education We had a vision to make an education programme that would transform people from various careers into QA engineers. It is not an easy task, but QAmp instructors put their (cumulative) 50 years of experience in this career into great use - and created the curriculum. After 400 applications, eleven QAmpers started their journey into, at least for them, a whole new world. There is no need to write long stories about the results - QAmp stories speak for themselves. Seven people started this year as QAmpers, and they are ending it as Atlanters. Great news is, we are doing it again! Our talent team and QAmp instructors are currently going through over 900 applications for the new cycle - and we are looking forward to witnessing the success of the new QAmpers in 2023!  Taking our office for a tour This year was a year of travel, so we joined in! We wanted to show Atlantbh office to our friends around Bosnia and Herzegovina, so we packed it up and put it on wheels!  In this year, Atlantbh Traveling Office visited East Sarajevo, Mostar and Kakanj. Thank you for spending time with us, and exchanging experiences. Follow us to see what is the next town we will visit! Giving back Giving back to the community is one of our core values. Usually, you get presents for your birthday. But for this year's Atlantbh birthday, we wanted to gift a playground to the children of Vareš. Together with Pomozi.ba, we completely renovated an old and run down playground. On opening day, Atlanters spent the day with children, painting a mural and planting flowers.  This year, Atlanters also donated blood, collected books for a public library, gifted toys to children, cleaned the city and its surroundings. Also, Atlantbh has supported university students through Atlantbh Scholarships for the fifth year in a row, and high school students with rewards. Many of these are already our tradition, but we want to do more every year! Building a strong team After two years of smaller team-buildings, we wanted to make a bang this year. And if you ask us - we did it. First, we had a Winter team building at Jahorina. What was supposed to be a relaxed, sunny, winter day turned into a blizzard. However, strong team spirit shows the best in challenging situations. We turned it into our advantage - Atlanters had the slopes for themselves, we rode snow groomers instead of gondolas and we had the best time! When life gives you blizzard, turn it into a great team building! After all, no strong teams were built by smooth sailing.  In September, Atlanters packed their suitcases and flew somewhere warmer - to Turkey!  Atlanters spent a long weekend together, creating memories and building on our already strong culture. Speaking of culture - when all of us get together, you can clearly see all we have in common: we are responsible, work well together and we love to have great fun. We always knew our culture is strong and Atlanters are awesome, but it is great to see we share these values even outside of work. Perk it up Atlanters enjoy various perks and benefits, and this year - we had some new ones. Although we have Private health insurance, it is important to look after your health in other ways, such as sport. In 2022, all Atlanters got complimentary Fitpass to use in any sports activity they prefer.  Another significant ABH perk was “remote benefit”. Now, it is much easier for Atlanters who live in other cities to travel to Sarajevo and spend more in person time with their team. This resulted in a lot of time spent working together in the office. Apart from our regular, individual education budget, we invested in various team educations.  We make 2022 look easy, and can’t wait to see what 2023 will bring. 

For the fifth time in a row, we are finishing the year by giving back. Ten young and awesome people have received Atlantbh Scholarships, ready to achieve big dreams and goals.  Just like the fifty youngsters before them, Atlantbh will support them not only financially, but also through education and workshops. We value individual approach, and that is why we welcomed them into our office and had a productive conversation about their view on the IT industry.  We are happy to spend time with these ten young people throughout the next year, to get to know each other and grow together.  Atlantbh Scholarships are awarded in two categories, to students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in academic and non-academic activities and to those who come from low-income households. We have many Holiday traditions in December, but just like the rest of the year, our core belief is to give back and strengthen the community. Every year, Atlanters gather to donate gifts to children in need. During the years, we have partnered with the local charity organization Ruku na srce, which assists families facing financial difficulties. We have come together to make another holiday season memorable for the children. Atlanters have bought toys and sweets, hoping to bring joy to the children.  The holiday season is a time for giving, and Atlanters have shown that they are more than willing to come together and make a difference in the lives of others. By spreading holiday cheer and making a gift donation, we are helping to build a stronger, more connected community and making the world a better place for all.

Last year at this time, Damir was working in a real estate agency. He knew only the basics about the QA engineer position and the IT industry, and had never written a single line of code until then. Also, last year, the call for the first round of QAmp was announced. This education aims to help those wanting to change their careers and enter the IT world. Atlantbh experts have created an entirely new training program in which people without prior knowledge can become competitive in the IT market after three months of education. Change of career in just three months During the selection process, he did a lot of research about this position, but it seemed almost impossible to him that he would have the skills of a QA engineer in three months. However, with the beginning of QAmp, that changed very quickly. "In a period of about three months, I gained a large amount of knowledge and new skills thanks to the lecturers and the well-designed program of QAmp. In addition to acquired knowledge about the IT industry and the QA engineer position itself, what initially seemed impossible became a reality - I started writing scripts for testing web applications," says Damir about his experience. Advantages of QAmp What Damir points out as an advantage of QAmp is that the lecturers are not just transferring the information, but have also shared their many years of practical experience with QAmpers. Because of working on large and challenging projects, they know what it takes for someone not only to become a QA engineer, but to do that job well and with quality. "Practical advice, which relates not only to technical skills, but also to working on projects, is impossible for you to learn on your own. It is even more difficult to find courses and trainings that will provide different profiles of lecturers, and someone who has actually worked in practice for many years and knows how to do things properly," continues Damir. A message to future QAmpers Damir says that the process itself was not easy for him. Sometimes, he doubted whether he could spare time for studying, in addition to working full-time and having a family. However, he set aside all his free time for study and work, and with the instructions and help of the lecturer, he acquired new knowledge and skills. He wants to tell future QAmpers that it takes a lot of persistence, work, learning and the desire to research, and that when you think you can't master something - don't give up. Damir did not give up, and today he is a QA engineer at Atlantbh, and the lecturers he learned from are now his colleagues. The only thing that hasn't changed is that the learning hasn't stopped even though he is now an Atlanter. Every day he absorbs new knowledge related to the technologies he works with.
