CASE STUDY
Driving School System Modernization and Process Automation
Rebuilt a constrained legacy backend into a flexible system for complex, regulation-driven use cases, improving performance and enabling growth.
Problem Solved
The project involved replacing an outdated backend system that no longer met the needs of the expanding business of our driving school client. As the number of end-users and use cases increased, the existing architecture required numerous temporary fixes due to system limitations.
The business domain, tightly coupled with European laws, required strict rules and flexibility, posing a challenge for the system architecture. New services were developed using a modern tech stack, creating a flexible model accommodating all use cases. This solution aimed to enhance overall functionality, support growth, and improve operational efficiency.
Problem Solving Approach
The project involved close collaboration with other teams due to its complexity, particularly with the learning of a new business domain and making key technical decisions, as well as switching to a new technology stack (Elixir), and taking full responsibility for implementation and delivery.
Designing new features involved thorough consideration to cover all use cases, leveraging end-users’ proximity for testing planned functionalities as soon as the design concepts were made.
Outcome
The new system is running smoothly, offering a significant improvement in speed, reliability, and overall performance, with an expected positive impact on profits. This success is due to a comprehensive approach that addresses all use cases, quality development, and an enhanced UX/UI with a more responsive design.
